Elkin, NC - The ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was back at it again with a double points program in store for the tenth event of the 2008 racing season.
Once again, the track would really show off the impressive work of the speedway staff as the track would hold smooth all through the night. All events went right on time this week
as we were using the in-car race receivers this week for the first official time this season. Friendship
Motor Speedway once again showed that this was the place to be to enjoy great dirt track racing action in all feature events.
This week featured all four of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Models, Basic Finance Super Street, Coffee House Four Cylinders, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division.
In the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Model event, Noel Tucker would return in style as he would set quick time in time trials to start the special $1500.00 feature event from the front row along side points contender Keith Holder. As the green flag flew it would be Noel Tucker grabbing the lead quick over Keith Holder. Holder would battle back and look to the inside of Tucker several times before having mechaincal problems and be done for the night. Chase McCormick would rally to second and try his muscle on Tucker but it wouldn't last long as Mitchell Coble and Chris Cheek would make it a three way battle for second. Coble would take second for a few laps but Chris Cheek would put on a show to move past Coble and take second looking to catch Tucker. Noel Tucker of Mount Airy, North Carolina would bag an impressive sixth event win before the halfway point of the the season as he would roll into the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM Victory Lane. Chris Cheek would add points to his totals as he would bring it home in second. Mitchell Coble would finish third while Tony Hicks reclaims the points lead with his fourth place run. In the Basic Finance Super Street division, Daniel Moss and Andy Mathis would win their heat events to start from row number one. Last weeks feature winner Andy Mathis would be looking to make it two for two as he would lead early over points leader Daniel Moss. Jeff Parsons, George Anen, and Jimmy Watson would be going at it as this would be one heck of a race between these five drivers. Andy Mathis would take it to the checkers with Jeff Parsons in tow for the second straight event. A hard charging George Anen would finish a strong third this week knocking Jimmy Watson to fourth and Daniel Moss to fifth in the finishing order. In the Coffee House Four Cylinder event, Justin Hudspeth and Tommy Zachary were scheduled to kick things off but it would not be for Hudspeth as he would not start the feature due to possible mechaical issues. This would move Billy Robbins to the point along side Zachary. Tommy Zachary would lead early and send Billy Robbins back to second to do battle with Mr. Consistant Sandy Martin. Sandy Martin would look to have a strong car this week as he would be holding off a strong Matthew Warden. Tommy Zachary would win his third event this year with his impressive run from start to finish. Billy Robbins would take the points lead away from Robbie Brown this week with his second place run. Sandy Martin would once again finish in the top three in third. Matthew Warden would finish fourth with Robbie Brown falling back this week to finish fifth. In the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car feature event, Jessica Mendenhall would start from row one along side Boo Boo Dalton. Boo Boo Dalton would lead early over Medenhall. Ben Walker and Matthew Barker would come from the mid to rear of the field as they would make this a four way battle all the way to the checkers along with Josh Clonch. Ben Walker would be the man out on top as he would grab his first win of the season. Josh Clonch would finish second but be found not legal in post race inspections. Boo Boo Dalton would claim second as this would also move Matthew Barker up to third and reclaiming his points lead away from C.J. Lyons. Congrats to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into the eleventh event and the mid-point of the 2008 racing season on August 2nd. Coming up for our next event will be all of our regular divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Models, Basic Finance Super Streets, Coffee House Four Cylinders, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division.
