> (08.09.2008) BACK TO BACK WINS FOR KEITH HOLDER AT FMS...
Elkin, NC - The ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was back at it for the twelfth event of the 2008 racing season with good times and great racing this week as we would have some great weather in store for what would be a "hot" night of racing action on the track. The track would look nice and smooth again this week as there would be several battles for the win all through the night. All events went right on time this week as we were continuing to use the in-car race receivers. Friendship Motor Speedway showed that this was the place to be to enjoy great dirt track racing action in all feature events. This week featured all four of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Models, Basic Finance Super Street, Coffee House Four Cylinders, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division.

In the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Model event, Winky McGee would be the man this week as time trials were under way. Winky would set quick time as he would then draw number one in the top six draw for starting poisitions. John Eller would kick things off from outside row one for the start of the feature event. Winky McGee would get the lead in turn one over Eller. Kent Peckham would show to be strong as he would battle with Keith Holder mid way through the event. John Eller would fall all the way back to sixth as the top five would have such an impressive run going including Winky McGee, Kent Peckham, Keith Holder, Noel Tucker, and Mitchell Coble would all battle for the lead as the laps would wind down. Winky McGee would get high and loose and fall back late in the run. Kent Peckham would take over the lead with Keith Holder charging hard. As laps wind down Holder would make his move and show just how to get the job done as he would take it to the lead. Noel Tucker would then do battle with Kent Peckham for the second position. On the last lap Tucker would make his run on Peckham to second but would not have time to catch Holder. Keith Holder of Dobson, North Carolina would score back to back feature wins as he would roll into the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM Victory Lane. Noel Tucker of Pilot Mountain would finish a strong second after starting all the way back in eleventh poistion. Kent Peckham would hang on to third while Tony Hicks would have a great run this week putting him right back in contention for this championship title run. John Eller would come back to finish fifth. Current points leader Chris Cheek would have a disapointing night as he would have mechanical issues early on placing him dead last in ninteenth finishing position falling now just ten points over Tony Hicks.

In the Basic Finance Super Street division, David Capps would make his season debut the right way from the pole starting things off along side Jimmy Watson for the start. Jimmy Watson would lead early with Daniel Moss and Andy Mathis going for second over Capps. Capps would spin in turn three sending him to the rear of the field. Moss and Mathis would then do battle for second as Mathis would come out on top. With Jimmy Watson leading, Mathis would try to make his move to see if he could run down the leader. Laps would go away quickly as Jimmy Watson would score yet another win making it his fifth of the season. Andy Mathis would come home a strong second with points leader Daniel Moss rounding out the top three. Moss and Mathis are now just four points apart heading into their next event on August 23rd as this division will be off next week for the special Super Late Model event.

In the Coffee House Four Cylinder event, Matthew Warden would start first along side Justin Hudspeth as he look to be getting better each and every week. Justin Hudespeth would get the lead early over Warden but would collect turn four wall on lap one ending his night and chance for his first win of the year. Matthew Warden would resume the lead over Tommy Zachary. Tommy Zachary would then take the lead on his way to trouble as he would also collect turn four wall ending his night of racing. Jerry Cook and Sandy Martin would look to do battle for second as they would try to make ground on leader Warden. Matthew Warden would pick up his second win of the season. Jerry Cook would fall off the pace on the final lap handing second to points contender Sandy Martin and third to points contender Robbie Brown. Points leader Billy Robbins would not loose much ground to these guys as he would still have a strong finish in fourth place.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car feature event, this is always a fun event to watch as there are usually great battles from start to finish. This event would be just that way as Shawn Peach would do battle with Ben Walker early in the event. Tyler Sidden and Jessica Mendenhall would look to show their talent as they would both have great runs at the front of the field this week. Peach would fall off the pace toward the end of the event giving Ben Walker his third straight win in a row. Tyler Sidden would beat out Jessica Mendehall to the line as they would finish second and third place respectively. Points leader Matthew Barker would bring it home in sixth as he will hang on to his lead over Tyler Sidden.
