> (10.04.2008) TIM ALLEN IS THE MAN OF "STEEL" AT FRIENDSHIP...
Elkin, NC (10.04.2008) - The ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was back at it for the eighteenth event this 2008 season. This would be a great night for racing action as the weather would hold out great with only a few chills towards the end of the events. Our regular GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Models would have their first night off of the year as we would bring in two other exciting divisions for the first time on the new dirt for what would be a great night of racing when it was all said and done. This week featured three of our regular divisions which are known as the Basic Finance Super Streets, Coffee House Four Cylinders, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division along with a special appearence by the East Coast Flathead Old Timers Division accompanied by a $1500.00 to win special with the fan favorite Steel Head Late Models.

In the Special Steel Head Late Model event, Winky McGee would kick things off up front but would have trouble early and take it to the pits with possible mechanical issues. Tim Allen would be the man to beat all through the event as his car looked to be hooked just right. Bubba McGee would be a favorite as he would look strong and try his best to match the strength of Allen. Chad Paxton and Brandon Ifft would not get off to a great start but would come through the field for a late race charge. When the checkered flew it would be Kannapolis, North Carolinas Tim Allen rolling in the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM Victory Lane. Bubba McGee would come home in second while Brandon Ifft would be able to take third while holding off a strong Chad Paxton. Bobby Sands would return to Friendship to grab the final top five finish out of twenty-seven entered cars.

In the Basic Finance Super Street event, 2008 Champion Andy Mathis would look to be the man to beat early until a hard charging Daniel Moss would catch him in lap traffic and never look back to score his first victory out of the last six races. David Capps would have his best finish of the year in second. Grayland Wagoner would return this week with a good run in third. Kenny Gwyn would finish fourth with Chris Dunlap making his season debut in fifth. Andy MAthis would continue to have trouble after leading early to finish eighth.

In the Coffee House Four Cylinder event, this would be probably the best racing of the night as the top eight would battle side by side for several laps before sorting things out. Justin Hudspeth would be the man out on top of the situation with his second win of the year. Michael Wells would return driving the Dirtdawg Racing entry normally driven by Jerry Cook to finish second just a couple feet over 2008 Champion Billy Robbins in third. Matthew Warden would come home in fourth while Barry Suddreth would have a top five run in fifth.

In the East Coast Flateheads feature event, this would be a special retro style racing feature with the older model cars with two feature winners, one for the sportsman class and one for the modified class. This race would run fifteen laps caution free with Johnnie Johnson scoring the win in his Modified while John Barrow would cross the line in third but would win for the Sportsman group. Jim Brock would finish second with Chris Malcom in fourth and rounding out the top five would be Clayton Smith.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car feature event, Boo Boo Dalton would come back off his win in the last feature to score his third win of the year. Jake Anen, son of Basic Finance Super Street division driver George Anen, would score his season best finish in second with a very impressive run. 2008 Champion Matthew Barker would fall back from the pole starting position to finish third over Barry Wilson in fourth and Brett Myers in fifth.

Congrats to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into the nineteenth event of the 2008 racing season on October 11th. Coming up for our next event will be all four of our regular divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Models, Basic Finance Super Street, Coffee House Four Cylinders, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division. Come on out as we would love to have you as part of our dirt racing family.
