> (04.18.2009) RICKY WEEKS EXPERIENCES A WIN AT FRIENDSHIP...
(04.18.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - On a beautiful day the ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was open for the the third week in a row for what would be a exciting night of racing. Many teams comes from miles around to see just how well they could perform against the local guys. This week featured a special appearance by the Super Late Models along with four of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Unsponsored U-Car division.

In the Special $2000.00 To-Win Super Late Model event, Chris Meadows would set quick time in qualifying to start along side dirt track racing vetern Ricky Weeks. The experience of Weeks would seem to pay off early as he would scream out to an early lead in turn one of the first lap. Meadows would fall back to second while Steve Blackburn would ride third. Ricky Weeks from Rutherfordton, North Carolina would roll into the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM victory lane to pick up the first special Super Late Model event win of 2009. Chris Meadows would hang on to finish second. Dan Breuer would make a late race move to pick up third. Jeff Smith would have a great run moving up to fouth. Steve Blackburn would fall to fifth in the running order after it was all said and done.

In the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Model event, Noel Tucker would look to have the car to beat as he would set quick time for the second of three races so far this season. 2008 Champion Chris Cheek would start along the outside front row and would head to the lead on the start. Tucker would give it all he could as he would try high and low to get by Cheek. Midway through the event Cheek would slide just high enough for Tucker to get by on the bottom. Noel Tucker would set sail and cruise to win number two and claim the points lead. Tony Hicks would also slide by Cheek in the closing laps to pick up a strong second. Chris Cheek would fall back to finish third. Kent Peckham would roll home fourth with fifth going to Bobby Jones with one of his best runs ever at Friendship. After the event, Noel Tucker would be protested and found to be legal while being named the official race wiiner.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman division, Daniel Moss would finally score his first victory of the year as he would hold off Jeff Parsons in the closing laps. Points leader Parsons would come home in second while Richard Clew would have yet another good run in third. Grant Hutchens and Tony Lowe would round out the top five.

In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, this would be the best race in this division all year as Derek Mastin, Jeff Parsons, and Keith Clonch would make this a three way battle for the lead for most of the event. As it was all said and done Keith Clonch would come out on top to score his first win on the 2009 season. Jeff Parsons would bring it home a very close second. Derek Mastin would be third with Tony Parsons in fourth and Lee Barnett in fifth. The points battle is heating up early as Jeff Parsons and Derek Mastin are tied for the lead.

In the Unsponsored U-Car feature, Brett Myers would make it look easy now for two weeks in a row as he would take down the checkers and adding to his point lead over dad Sean Myers. Josh Clonch would make his season debut with a second place run. Britton Settle would finish a strong third over Sean Myers. Austin Caudle would round out the top five.
