(04.25.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - The ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway welcomed back everyone
for our fourth event of the 2009 racing season for what would be a strong night for racing action.
The weather would be just right once again while our kids enjoyed a candy sponsored kids meeting by U-Car driver Stephanie Clew.
This week featured all five of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Models,
Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.
In the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Model event, Brandon Umberger would be strong right off the truck to pick up quick time in two lap time trials. Kent Peckham would start along the outside front row for what would be a great two car battle for several laps. As lap traffic would become an issue it would be points leader Noel Tucker creaping up to make it a three way dance for the lead. Umberger and Peckham would have trouble getting through the traffic and Pilot Mountian's Noel Tucker would make it look easy as he would get pass both and cruise on to win an impressive third win out of the first four events. Kent Peckham would have a strong run in second while holding off a hard charging Brandon Umberger in third. Matt Long would return this week to finish fourth while Steve Cook would have a great finish in fifth. In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman division, Joel Bray would return back this week after taking a week off but would have the car to beat as he would cruise to his second victory this year. Jeff Parsons would hold on to the point lead while taking down second. Kenny Gwyn would make his season debut in third. Daniel Moss would finish fourth with Everette Dunlap rounding out the top five. In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinder divison, after having a week off at Friendship Tommy Zachary would return in style to his home track proving his car would have what it takes to get the job done for his first win of the season. Steve Faw would have a great run in second over Evan Benton in third. Robbie Brown would take home fourth with Toby Jones in fifth. In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, a Friendship familiar would return for his first race this year as Mickey Anderson would take the checkers for a impressive win. Keith Clonch who would be the man to beat early would have trouble and restart from the rear to make a charge though the field to bring home second. Jason Donahue would have another impressive run in third. Fourth would go to points leader Derek Mastin while Jeff Parsons would pick up fifth. In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, twelve year old Britton Settle would work hard to pick up is first win at Friendship. Stephanie Clew would look to be the car to beat early but would fall to second for the finish. Sean Myers would bring it home third. Fourth and Fifth would go to Chris Benge and Austin Caudle. Congratulations to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into the fifth event of the 2009 racing season on May 2nd. Coming up for our next event we will feature a special appearance by the National Dirt Racing Association Pro Late Model Touring Series that will be sponsored by GM Direct Automotive while also featuring three of our regular divisions known as the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.
