> (05.09.2009) WINKY MCGEE FINALLY PICKS UP FRIENDSHIP WIN...
(05.09.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - The American Speed Association sanctioned track Friendship Motor Speedway opened on time to welcome everyone to our sixth event of the 2009 racing season. The weather would hold off nicely once again this week as it would hold in store a great night of action packed dirt track racing at its best. This week featured all five of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.

In the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Model event, Brandon Umberger would set quick time in time trials along with picking up the feature win after leading all thirty laps. After the event Umberger would be protested and would refuse to release his engine for inspection therefore resulting in a disqualification. Winky McGee who would start from the outside front row and come home second across the line would now be the official race winner. Kent Peckham would have a strong night while picking up second. Dan Breuer would make his debut in this division with an impressive third place run over points leader Noel Tucker in fourth. Brian Moody would round out the top five.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Jeff Parsons would have his mirror full of a hard charging Daniel Moss all the way through the event. After it was all said and done it would be none other then Jeff Parsons adding to his points lead while bringing home his second win of the year in this division. Daniel Moss would finish second with Kenny Gwyn in third. Fourth would go to Joel Bray and fifth to Mike Shelton.

In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, Tommy Zachary would return to pick up his second win of the 2009 season with a hard charging Robbie Brown coming home second after a intense battle with the 2008 division champion of Billy Robbins who would finish third. Steve Faw and last weeks feature winner Evan Benton would finish fourth and fifth.

In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, Jeff Parsons who would be pulling double duty would be the first to pick up two feature wins in the same night of racing at Friendship Motor Speedway since going back to dirt in 2008. Points leader Keith Clonch would give him a run for it but just come up a little shy while bringing home second. Duke Bare would finish third with Derek Mastin fourth and Fabian Anderson in fifth.

In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, Allen Shelton would return to the four tenth mile in Elkin to show he had what it took to get the job done as he would score win number one in just his second event at the speedway this year. Stephanie Clew would finish second now for the third time in a row and also claiming the points lead away from the Myers Family. Barry Wilson would finish a strong third with Sean Myers in fourth and fifth going to Austin Caudle.

Congratulations to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into the seventh event of the 2009 racing season on May 16th. Coming up for our next event we will feature a special $2000.00 To-Win $200.00 To-Start Super Late Model show with no entry fee for the cars along with four of our regular divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.
