(06.27.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - Friendship Motor Speedway, a American Speed Association sanctioned track, was
back underway for the eleventh event this 2009 championship season. The intense heat this past week lead
to track crews using plenty of water to keep dust to a minimum as it would pay off after getting
all that water packed into the speedway for a night of excitement on the four-tenth mile bullring.
This week featured all of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman,
Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.
In the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Model event, Kent Peckham would claim quick time this week in two lap time trials while going green from the front row along side Bryan Nance. Peckham would pick up the lead in turn one with Nance falling in line second. Nance would have trouble as he would break a spring and lose a tire ending his chances for the night. Winky McGee would put on a show as he would make a run to challenge for the win. McGee would just not be able to get it done this week as Kent Peckham would score back to back wins after finally getting the monkey off his back a couple weeks ago. Winky McGee would hold strong while finishing in second. Bobby Jones still on a role to pick up his first win in the future with a consistant third place finish this week. Chris Cheek would bring it home fourth with John Eller returning to Frinedship this week to round out the top five. In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, once again this division showed that it has some of the best racing around as Joel Bray and Bryan Nance would battle it out for the race win. Joel Bray would wheel and deal as he would score win number three of the season. Bryan Nance would come up just shy yet again as he would have to settle for second. Jeff Parsons who started second would not have the finish he was looking for this week but still hanging on to a good points run in third. The last event winner Daniel Moss would finish in fourth this week. Richard Clew would bring it home in fifth. In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, Billy Robbins would lead the way early has he and Tommy Zachary would put on a show for the fans. Billy Robbins would be the man out on top as he and Tommy Zachary would get together in turn three sending Zachary to restart from the rear. Billy Robbins would cruise to victory lane as he would hold off a strong Robbie Brown in the closing laps. Brown would finish second with Toby Jones a impressive run in third. J.R. Pack had a great finish in fourth with Tommy Zachary coming back from that incident earlier to finish in fifth. In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, Jeff Parsons would be the man to beat once again this week as he would add to his point lead by picking up win number five of the year. Jason Donahue would score yet another runner up finish while still tring to find that first victory. Tony Parsons would have a good run in third with Lee Barnett in fourth and fifth going to Fabian Anderson. In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, Travis Turner would make his third start this season a what a race as he would lead from start to finish picking up his second impressive win. Ariana Holsclaw would show tough as she would return this week after a hard hit she took in the last event on June 13th. She would start tenth and make a run all the way to second just running out of laps towards to end as she would have one fast machine. Maggie Stokes would have a very good run this week in third. Brett Myers and Austin Caudle would finish fourth and fifth. Points leader Stephanie Clew would not have the finish she wanted but would hang on to finish sixth.
