> (07.18.2009) FRIENDSHIP WIN GOES TO "KOOL" KENT PECKHAM...
(07.18.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - The American Speed Associaiton sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was back underway for the fourteenth event this season. This week would show off the talents of some of the finest dirt track drivers around as the weather would be just right and the track would show off the tremendous efforts of the speedway staff as it would hold smooth all through the event. This week featured all five of our regular divisions which are known as the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.

In the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Model event, "Kool" Kent Peckham of Statesville would make his mojo work yet again at the four-tenth mile bullring. This week Peckham would claim quick time in time trials as well as rolling into the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM victory lane to pick up win number four of the year and to add to his totals on the big points board. Steve Cook would have a great run as he would start secong and finish in third. Chris Cheek would come from third to finish just shy of the win yet again while taking home second. Last weeks feature winner Winky McGee would start fifth and finish fourth while Keith Holder would come from tenth starting position to claim the final top five spot.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Bryan Nance of Rhonda would score his second win in a row this week after a hard fault battle with Joel Bray and Jeff Parsons to finish second. Richard Clew would take the checkers but would not pass in post race inspections. Joel Bray would rally up a strong second place run with points leader Jeff Parsons in third. Daniel Moss would finish fourth this week as Brad Burkhart would return to Friendship to finish in fifth.

In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, Tommy Zachary would get his stuff together this week while taking down a strong win. Justin Hudspeth would have his machine dialed in this week as he would finish a strong second. Billy Robbins would have another consistant run this week while also picking up the current points lead while finishing third. Derek Mathis would be behind the wheel of the Eddie Blackburn racing machine this week as he would have a great run going to finish in fourth. Adam Piercy who just keeps getting better each and every week would crack the top five in fifth.

In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, only five cars would enter this division this week but they would put on one of the best races all night as Jeff Parsons and Keith Clonch would battle close through most of the event with Keith Clonch coming out on top after a incident with the Jeff Parsons machine in the closing laps. Derek Mastin would give Clonch a mirror full to come up just short of the win in second. Tony Parsons would survive the battle to bring it home third. Jason Donahue and Jeff Parsons would round out the field with Parsons still on top in the standings.

In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, a big debut for Chris Meeks this week as he would hold off a tough run from Matthew Nance to claim his first victory. Nance would still be walking the dog this week and looking to break through with a big win soon as he would claim a back to back second. Points leader Stephanie Clew would have a good run this week in third after a couple of disapointing runs. Britton Settle would grab fourth while Austin Caudle would round out the top five.
