FRIENDSHIP MOTOR SPEEDWAY Weekly Article

(08.01.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - The American Speed Associaiton sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway was open this week for event number sixteen of the season. As practice and qualifying would be complete the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V8 cars would hit the track for their feature but would be cut just a few laps short with rainy weather moving in off the mountains and end the events early before running the final four feature events. This week was scheduled to feature all five divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.

In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, Derek Mastin would put on a heck of a show this week after some mechaincal problems would end his night early last week. Mastin would do battle with Keith Clonch and Jeff Parsons. Derek Mastin would lead all the way to the final yellow flag as the rain would move in ending the race just a few laps short. Derek Mastin of Elkin would be named the winner as Keith Clonch would clinch second. Jeff Parsons would go up in smoke on that last completed lap as he would still pick up third. Mickey Anderson would finish fourth with Lee Barnett rounding out the top five.
