(08.29.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - The four-tenth mile dirt bullring was open for event number twenty of
the 2009 racing season as Friendship Motor Speedway was the place to be this past Saturday night for
a classic event of good times and great racing. Track crews would do a superb job this week as the track
would hold smooth from top to bottom with dust to a bare minimum providing a top notch show for both the fans and
the drivers. This week featured all five divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman,
Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.
In the GM Direct Automotive NDRA Pro Late Model event, Kenny Peoples, Jr. of Rural Retreat, Virginia would make it to the track late but would have his stuff together as he would blast to the pole in time trials. As the green flag would wave Peoples would muscle to the lead over Pilot Mountain's Winky McGee. Brian Carswell would be the man on a mission as he would make a late race charge on Peoples. It would not be for Carswell as Kenny Peoples, Jr. would role into victory after leading all thirty laps. Brian Carswell had a great night but would come up just shy of the victory with his second place run. The "Wilkes County Weapon" Chris Cheek would have yet another consistant run with a third place finish. Winky Mcgee would fall from second to fourth when it was all said and done. Andrew Durham would have a decent night as he would take it home in fifth. Points leader Kent Peckham would lose just a little ground this week to McGee in the standings while still maintaining a commanding lead going into the final few point races. In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Richard Clew would look to be the man to beat yet again this week. Clew would check out early with a good lead until the last couple laps when Brian Nance would come from the rear of the field all the way up to make a challenge on Clew. As the green would fly on the last couple laps it would be "Stroker Ace" Brian Nance of Ronda making his way to the front after passing Clew to take the win. Richard Clew would finish second with points leader Jeff Parsons coming up shy yet again this week to finish third. Shawn Robinson would have a decent run in fourth with Daniel Moss rounding out the top five. In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, Tommy Zachary of Yadkinville would have his machine dialed in one more time this week as he a Chris Hudspeth would battle it out with Zachary coming out the winner. Chirs Hudspeth is ready to break down the door any week now as he would claim the runner-up poisition this week. Points leader Billy Robbins would have a so-so night this week as he would add to his points lead with his third place run. Junior Welborn would return this week to finish fourth over fifth place Toby Jones. In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, Derek Mastin would make it three in a row this week as he would put his Basic Finance machine in victory lane. James Allison would make a special trip to Friendship this week as he would have a great run while finishing second. Tony Parsons would finish third with Fabian Anderson in fourth. Points leader Jeff Parsons would not have such a great night as mechanical problems would catch up with him yet again this week. Jeff Parsons still maintains and commanding lead over Jason Donahue. In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, like father-like son "Stroker Ace, Jr." Matthew Nance would come through the field this week to make it three wins in a row after a hard fault battle with Brett Myers. These two guys would run side by side for the last half of the race as the two would bump several times with the last bump sending Brett Myers to a third place finish. Todd Faircloth would have a great night this week while taking it to the house in second. Travis Turner would finish fourth this week with Maggie Stokes not having things go her way this week but would still hang on to finish fifth. Congratulations to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support as we head into event number twenty-one of the 2009 racing season Saturday on September 5th for a special night of racing action.
