> (09.05.2009) JEFF SMITH CAPTURES A $5000 WIN AT FRIENDSHIP...
(09.05.2009) Elkin, North Carolina - Friendship Motor Speedway was the place to be this past Saturday night for yet another classic event of good times and great racing. The cars and stars of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series would roll into the four-tenth mile dirt bullring for event number twenty-one of the 2009 racing season for special $5000.00 top prize. Along with a special appearance by the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series this week would feature four of our regular weekly divisions known as the GM Direct Automotive Pro Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8, and the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car division.

In the Special Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event, Jeff Smith of Dallas, North Carolina would roll up quick time in two lap time trials to claim the pole starting position. As the green flag droped it would be Smith jumping out to a commanding lead over second place Dan Breuer. Ricky Weeks would do battle with Breuer for several laps before finally sneaking by without taking both cars out. Weeks would then have a caution and be able to set his sights on Jeff Smith. It would just not be for Weeks this week as the man Jeff Smith would roll into victory lane claiming the big prize along with extending his points lead to now twenty points in the chase for the 2009 Clash Championship with just five events remaining. Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, North Carolina would hold on to second on the track as well as in the clash point standings. Chris Ferguson of Gastonia would finish a strong third after getting by a back sliding Dan Breuer who would claim fourth. Dennis "Rambo" Franklin would take it to the house with a strong fifth place run.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Harmony's Richard Clew would have ole "Twister" back out front this week and cruising to yet another victory after holding off current points leader Jeff Parsons who would have a strong run in second while gaining just a few more points over Daniel Moss this week as he would finish in third. Grayland Wagoner would have a great run this week as he would bring it to the checkers in fourth over fifth place Nathan Walker.

In the Coffee House Waffle Shop Four Cylinders, Steve Faw of Wilkesboro would finally knock down the door this week as he would grab his first win of the season after a hard fought battle with the birthday boy Chris Hudspeth who would look to have it in the bag until turn number four of the last lap as he would spin coming to the checkers. Defending champion Billy Robbins would also extend his points lead this week with his second place finish. Kevin Atwell would take third with Adam Piercy in fourth while Steve Minton would round out the top five. Chris Hudspeth who lead the entire race until the last turn would finish a disapointing seventh.

In the JC Racing & Fabrication Renegade V-8 division, Derek Mastin would make it four in a row this week as he would drive his machine back to the front to take down the win. Points leader Jeff Parsons would cross the line in second but would not pass post-race inspecstions and would not be credited with second or any points for the event. Tony Parsons would now finish second with Jason Donahue third while now back in the hunt for the division championship with just a few races to go. Fabian Anderson would finish fourth with Lee Barnett finishing fifth.

In the Hill Top Trading Post Donald's Automotive U-Car feature, Brett Myers would take it back to the front this week as he would finally claim the top spot in the point standings after digging hard all year. Myers would take down the win with Britton Settle in second, Austin Caudle in third. Travis Turner would have a battle going while trying to hold on to it with a fourth place finish. Former points leader Stephanie Clew would have another consistant top five run but still not good enough for her as she is looking to battle with Brett Myers down to the last race for the division championship.
