Welcome to the 2010 racing season at Friendship Motor Speedway. The staff, myself, and my friends & family are excited about taking the reigns at Friendship Motor Speedway. We certainly appreciate everybodys patience while waiting on these announcements and we hope everybody is ready to go racing at Friendship in 2010.
I felt I need to get everybody up to speed so far.
Competition Notes - First of all, Practice has been moved to March 27th, 2010 from 10am to 3pm. This should not affect anyone wanting to go to 311 Fastrack for their big race that night. This will be giving us another week to make sure that the track and employees are more prepared. On the afternoon of Wednesday March 10th, we will have Goodyear Tires at the Speedway for the GM Performance Late Models and Support Classes. Adrian’s Race Cars & Parts will be the official parts truck for the speedway each week. His phone number during the week is (336) 643-4658 he is located in Greensboro, NC. Also, we will be selling racing gas at the track each week. Fan Ticket Notes / Senoir Citizens - To help ease cost for our loyal supporters, we are now offering a family pack of tickets for the Grandstand. A family will consist of a Husband, Wife, and two children. This will be purchasing 2 adult tickets and one child and the second child will be admitted free. Any senior citizen in the grandstand or the pit area will receive $2.00 off admission price. A senior is 60 years and over. Coming Events So Far - There will be a Carolina Clash Super Late Model event on May 29th and a special NDRA Touring event will be on July 3rd along with fireworks. More special events and double points nights on the planning board. Stay tuned! Closing Notes - Things are coming together good and we should be prepared for Pre-Season Practice day. Friendship Motor Speedway has one of the best lighting systems in short track racing. Now lets give them the best racing they can see anywhere! In closing, I want to make sure that everyone knows and understands that I do not look, read, or participate in the local chat forums. I do look at the news forum and think that is a good thing to have. At this time there is no driver, crew member, or dirt team involved in partnership at the track. More announcements on sponsorship to follow soon and if there is anything we can do to accomodate your sponsors or entertain your potential sponsors please feel free to contact us to make arrangements. Allright dirt racers the time has come that Phil Hall will return to promote and run Friendship Motor Speedway in 2010 and beyond. Phil says that he is excited about being back. He knows that it won’t be easy since a lot of people are out of work and the economy is like it is but he believes if he can keep the dust down and get the fans, drivers, and crews out between 11:00 and 11:30, which he plans to do, that the fans and cars will come back home to Friendship. He is planning to add more clay to the track along with extended weekly preparation to help with the dust. We will be running the same divisions as last year. We will be NDRA sanctioned while the NDRA Championship is going to pay $5,000.00 to the winner. NDRA is paying the championship points money for all positions. This is one of the best things that has ever happened to dirt track racing. Phil ran for 35 years and never got to race for a championship that paid more than $2,000.00. Larry Lee and Jason Atkins have done a great job of putting this series together. Phil wants to make sure all of the lower divisions also have a good point system too. He is going to work very hard to try to have a Tuesday/Wednesday special race like the ones Tony Stewart does at Eldora Speedway. He even plans to bring in some Cup drivers. He is bringing back Mr. “Four Cylinder” Michael Wells to help him do weekly maintance. Andy Johnson is the new Technical Director. Andy will handle all the rules and will post them as soon as he can. His phone number is 336-984-5617. Phil also plans to bring most of the past employees back for the 2010 season. Phil will have a new phone number as of next week and will be posting it to the website. Practice will be Saturday March 20th from 11am to 4pm. For the respect of others Friendship Speedway will be off for the opening night of 311 Fastrack. Friendship Motor Speedway will open up for a new era as the first night of racing will be held on April 3rd. Let’s make this one of the biggest and best racing season ever.
