> Steve Blackburn claims emotional Friendship win...
(08.28.2010) Elkin, North Carolina - After a week off for inclement weather Friendship Speedway would open the gates for event number seventeen of the season. This event would include a special appearance by the Steel Head Late Model drivers as they would battle it out for the second time this year for a total of $1200.00 To-Win at the four-tenth mile dirt bullring. Also racing this week would be all five of our regular divisions known as the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the popular U-Car division.

In the Special Steel Head Late Model show, Steve Blackburn would kick off the start from the pole position along side teammate Raymond Brown. Blackburn would get the best of Brown in turn one to take it out to an early lead. Ray Tucker would mount a charge for Blackburn but would lose an oil pump mid-way through the event sending him home for the night. Brown would continue to fall back as Gary East and Gary Mabe would mount a charge to second and third. East would make a challenge but just not have enough to catch a strong Steve Blackburn. Blackburn would roll his Raymond Brown Well Company/Don And Herbert Way Builders Ford Fusion into the Window World Victory Lane. During the post-race interview Blackburn would dedicate this very emotional win to his grandmother who has passed away since he began his racing career at Friendship many years ago. Gary East would finish second over Gary Mabe in third. Winky McGee finished fourth with fifth going to Damon Kotke.

In the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Model event, "Kool" Kent Peckham would kick things off up front after starting along side pole sitter Neil Morgan. These two dirt track stars would battle it out but Morgan would lose ground to Peckham while sliping back. Peckham would hold his own out front with a challenge from "Little Mac" Chase McCormick. McCormick would pick up the lead for a short time before falling back to second. The 2009 division champion Kent Peckham would lead all the way to the checkers for his first win in 2010. Chase McCormick would have his best run of the year in second with another season best for Mitchell Coble in third. Current points leader Justin Hudspeth would finish fourth with Colby Fishlien showing strong while rounding out the top five.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, it would be the battle of the Bray Brothers now for the third week in a row with point leader Joel Bray coming out on top yet again. This means Joel Bray will be starting from the rear next week. Brother Jerry Bray would have his third runner up finish in second after holding off a strong Mark Crowe in third. Mike Shelton would return this week to finish fourth with Daniel Moss rounding out the top five.

In the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Tommy Zachary would be a man on a mission this week claiming his second win in a row. Derek Brown would have a season best finish in second holding off a hard charging Chris Hudspeth. Matthew Warden would return with a fourth place run while dirt racing veteren Sandy Martin would claim the final top five finishing position. Points leader Billy Robbins would climb into Ronnie Coveys' machine after mechanical failure would hit his primary car. Robbins would finish in eighth.

In the Basic Finance Renegade V-8 division, Mickey Anderson would finally be able to close the deal this week after many weeks of trials and tribulations. Mickey Anderson would lead from start to finish while holding off a challenge from "The Bad Bow Tie" Keith Clonch who would finish second. Points leader Jason Donahue would claim third. Steve Darby finishes fourth with defending champion Jeff Parsons in fifth.

In the U-Car feature, Zachary Lankford would be on the move again this week coming through the field to challenge Ben Walker for the win. Walker would not back down. Lankford would just not be able to close the deal this week as Ben Walker would score win number two of the year. Points leader Lankford finish second with Britton Settle in third. Fourth would go to Austin Caudle with Timothy Williams in fifth.

(08.14.2010) Elkin, North Carolina - On a overcast Saturday evening Friendship Speedway would be at it again showing off the talents of drivers from miles around. This week would be a special week for the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinder division as a special double feature main event would headline the show. This week featured event number sixteen of the 2010 championship season with all five divisions known as the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the popular U-Car division.

In the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Model event, "Kool" Kent Peckham would kick things off up front after starting along side Neil Morgan. These two dirt track stars would battle it out but Morgan would lose ground to Peckham while sliping back to third. Justin Hudspeth would roll into second with a strong car. Peckham would ten battle it out with Hudspeth on a restart with Hudspeth coming out on top while leading the rest of the way home. Justin Hudspeth would roll his Hudspeth Grading Masterbilt Chevrolet into the Window World Victory Lane. Kent Peckham would come out with his season best with a second place run. Neil Morgan would hang on to third while the "Wilkes County Weapon" Chris Cheek would take fourth. "The Franklin Flash" Noel Tucker would round out the top five.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, it would be the battle of the Bray Brothers yet again this week for the second week in a row. These two would battle it out side by side early on with Joel Bray getting the lead over brother Jerry Bray. Andrew Durham would battle it out with a strong Steve Capps. When the dust settled it would be Joel Bray once again beating out brother Jerry Bray. Jerry Bray would take second with Andrew Durham holding on for third. Steve Capps would claim fourth with fifth to George Anen.

In the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Chris Hudspeth would roar to victory in the first feature event after holding off a late race charge by Tommy Zachary who would come from the rear of the field all the way up to finish second. Points leader Billy Robbins would finish third. Fourth would be Kevin Atwell with fifth to Robbie Brown. In the second feature it would time for Tommy Zachary to shine as he would now take the lead with Chris Hudspeth in tow. Zachary would never look back as he would claim the second event win. Chris Hudspeth would fall this time to second with Billy Robbins once again in third. Kevin Atwell would have back to back fourth place runs with Toby Jones rolling up to fifth.

In the Basic Finance Renegade V-8 division, "The Bad Bow Tie" Keith Clonch would look to have it under control this week as he would lead early over Shorty Lacey. Midway through the event Clonch would have mechanical troubles again as he would break another steering arm sending him in for the night. This would hand the lead over to Shorty Lacey to battle it out with Mickey Anderson for the win. Anderson would just not be able to catch Lacey. Shorty Lacey in his season debut at Friendship would roll up his first win. Mickey Anderson would finish second with points leader Jason Donahue in third.

In the U-Car feature, points leader Zachary Lankford would once again make it look easy as he would roll up win number nine of the season. Gary Young Jr. would look good with his season debut in second. Timothy Williams would score third with Ben Walker breaking out the new car in fourth. Britton Settle would settle for fifth this week.

> Ron "The Bull" Parker wins a wild one at Friendship Speedway...
(08.07.2010) Elkin, North Carolina - After a week off for bad weather, Friendship Speedway would re-open this week for and night of action that would be hot both on and off the track. This week would be a night to remember with a special 50-lap Enduro race which would be a fan favorite with driver Jeff Parsons claiming the victory. This week featured event number fifteen of the 2010 championship season with all five or our regular divisions known as the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the popular U-Car division.

In the Flow Automotive NDRA Crate Late Model event, "The Bounty Hunter" Winky McGee and Ron "The Bull" Parker would kick it off from the front row after setting quick time in one-lap time trials early in the night. These two dirt racing veterns would put on the best show of night while swopping the lead back and fourth several times. When the dust would clear it would be "The Bull" Ron Parker claiming his second ever victory at the four-tenth mile while rolling into the Window World Victory Lane. Winky McGee would cross the line second with the 2008 track champion Chris Cheek showing a strong third. Colby Fischlein would have a impressive finish in fourth while holding off Les Blankenship in fifth.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Joel Bray would lead the way early over brother Jerry Bray. Jay Foley would make his season debut a Friendship this week with a strong machine while doing battle with Andrew Durham. Joel Bray would lead all the way home has he would claim win number nine while adding to his points lead. Brother Jerry would have his best run of the year in second. Jay Foley finished third holding off Andrew Durham in fourth. Jeff Parsons would come off the win during the last event to fall to fifth this week.

In the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, current points leader Billy Robbins would have his hands full this week as his mirror would be full of Chris Hudspeth and Tommy Zachary. Kevin Atwell would lead early but would cut down a tire. Robbins would take over the lead and roll to the Window World Victory Lane claiming win number four this year. Chris Hudspeth would fall to finish second this week. Tommy Zachary looked strong while finihsing third holding off Junior Welborn in fourth. Fifth would go to Derek Mathis.

In the Basic Finance Renegade V-8 division, Jeff Parsons would take over the top spot this week after a runner up finish during our last event. Jeff Parsons would hold off current points leader Jason Donahue to take down win number seven on the 2010 calender. Jason Donahue would fall to second this week with Keith Clonch in third. Junior Pack takes fourth with Pinkie Barnett rounding out the top five.

In the U-Car feature, Zachary Lankford would have his 1998 Pontiac Sunfire up front this as he would lead to the checkers to roll up win number eight of the 2010 season while adding to his points lead. Ben Walker would fall from his win a couple weeks ago to find second this week. The 2009 champion Brett Myers would return this week with a strong run in third. Frank Lawson would claim fourth with Chad McNeil in fifth.
